As part of the study, we proposed a solution to increase pipe storage capacity in the space between racks. The aim was to make effective use of space and improve material handling.
1. Current situation
The 40-metre-long pipes are currently stored in tree-style racks with open aisles. The pipes are handled by crane, which can be inefficient and takes up space.
2. Proposed solution
We proposed replacing the existing fixed shelving with mobile shelving, which would allow maximum use of space in the aisles. These shelves move on wheels guided by steel rails, allowing for flexible and efficient arrangement.
3. Design and capacity
The mobile racks will be equipped with a drive system that will ensure their smooth movement. This will enable us to increase storage capacity from 216–1,620 pipes to 360–2,700 pipes. The new solution will provide more storage space, which will simplify handling and increase efficiency.
This proposal therefore addresses the problems of the existing warehouse and will enable better use of space and increase storage capacity.
